The Laughter Party 3rd - 31st of August

All you need for a party will be right here at the BABBACOMBE THEATRE with a superb new show for 2010, THE LAUGHTER PARTY.

We have fabulous lighting, great music, stunning costumes with feathers masks and lots of sparkle, gorgeous girls, handsome men, magical illusions and to top all that loads to make you laugh out loud!

Headlining this sumptuous show is Andy Oakley, a versatile comic who can turn his hand to anything. He will be taking you to Sherwood Forest, perform a spine tingling and somewhat unusual Phantom, be on the wrong side of the law and then to top it all prove he knows his alphabet, count to three and then take you to heaven!

Joining Andy we have the very beautiful, divine diva Ruby Washington, she will Get The Party Started with a dramatic entrance that will send you all of a quiver, Gary Richard our very own Welsh Dynamo, with the voice of a giant, which for someone so small in stature suggests he is singing from his boots, who also boasts a delightfully pitched comedic campness, will effortlessly extracts humour from any situation.

Johnny Edwards, an internationally renowned comedy vocalist with the magic touch will have you all floating on air, Lisa Walker will ensure You Feel the Love, even though she will have a stab at making a grand gesture on behalf of the ladies with a sword. Louis Nayler a rising young and new vocal talent will impress with his performance is the icing on the party cake!

Art on the English Riviera, Featuring Damien Hirst 1st of July - 30th of August

Following on from last year’s huge success with Antony Gormley’s Field for the British Isles, the English Riviera is pleased to announce that it will be hosting a brand new exhibition featuring Damien Hirst’s Mother and Child, Divided (Exhibition Copy). This will be the first time the piece has been seen in the UK outside of London – infact it has only ever been to Tokyo, Oslo, Venice and London so Torquay will be a unique addition to that list!

In addition to the above, we are also selecting a small number of key pieces from regional and international artists to bring a brand new exhibition to the Bay. These pieces will be confirmed here shortly so watch this space!

The exhibition will again be held in the stunning setting of the Spanish Barn, Torre Abbey and will be FREE!! Exact dates are yet tbc however will open early July and run until the August bank holiday. Daily opening hours will be 7 days a week, 10-5 with a few extra late nights along the way.

So make sure you don't miss out on this chance to see the world famous and controversial piece of art, which is helping build the English Riviera's reputation within the art world.

Torbay Carnival Week 25th of July - 1st of August

This popular annual event returns to Paignton Seafront and promises to provide traditional seaside fun, including beach parties, face painting, waiters and waitresses race, live music, dancing, firework display and of course the fantastic carnival itself.

Torbay Brass Band Concert 26th of July - 22nd of August

Torbay Brass Band association with Torbay goes back for many years, and during that time the band has performed many concerts within the Bay and beyond. They have also competed successfully in numerous contests including the winning of a national title.

Amongst the concerts they perform are their popular sea front concerts which take place on a Monday evening (weather permitting) in Princess Gardens, Torquay. They also give a concert on Babbacombe Downs, on selected Sunday dates.

Torbay Week is the only dedicated sailing regatta where the four individual yacht and sailing clubs of Torbay come together to create a superb week of higly-charged competitions. Torbay Royal Regatta 21st - 25th of August

Torbay Royal Regatta has been a local community highlight for almost two centuries and this year's event is no expection. Enjoy everything from rowing races and the 10km road race, to car rallies and water-ski displays.
