Other popular sporting activities include tennis, squash,
badminton, pitch & putt, bowling greens, ten pin bowling
and countless more! Torquay has an excellent Squash
following, centred around Torquay
Squash Club. Many hotels have tennis courts, so
check these out on the accommodation pages. There are
also a number of municipal courts across the bay that
welcome visitors all year around. The Torquay squash
club at Barton is always happy to receive visitors and
has an excellent bar and snooker room.
Pitch and putt at Goodrington and Broadsands is always great fun and a good way to stay fit and see the scenery. Ten pin bowling in Torquay, or bowls on Torquay sea front will keep the whole family occupied. The main leisure centres in Paignton and Torquay have swimming pools and lots of other resources for the active family especially on the odd inclement day!
We mustn't forget our golfers. There are a lot of great courses close to Torquay and Torbay , a number of which are featured on this site. Torquay makes a great short break for Golfers in both summer and winter. When many other courses are snowbound or unplayable the clement Torbay weather ensures that a full 18 holes can be completed!
For those people preferring to stay on dry land, you will find some of the most beautiful coastal walks in the country to enjoy. The South West Coast Path National Trail has 630 miles of superb coastal walking and stretches from Minehead on the edge of the Exmoor National Park to the shores of Poole Harbour in Dorset.
The Torbay stretch of this coastal path is one of the most enjoyable and stretches from south of Brixham through to Maidencombe and on to Teignmouth. Simply walk to the beach, turn left or right and carry on until morning! The walk is always well signposted, across greens, through woods, up hill and down dale.
